Activist Pavel Vinahradau Sentenced To 5 Years Of Imprisonment In Penal Colony

The illegal “trial” was conducted in a closed regime.

Today, a verdict has been pronounced with regard to activist and blogger Pavel Vinahradau in the Minsk City Court. He has been sentenced to 5 years of imprisonment in a penal colony, the Human Rights Center Viasna reports.

The trial of Pavel started on March 10 and was held in a closed regime.

Pavel Vinahradau was charged over three articles of the Criminal Code.

Blogger, activist Pavel Vinahradau was sentenced back in 2011 to 4 years in jail (he was released in September 2011).

In the summer of 2021 Pavel Vinahradau was arrested first for 15 days, then for 30 more days over an emotional Facebook post. Over the same post, a criminal case was started against him for the “slander” against Lukashenka. After 48 days Pavel was set free.

Finally he was detained on December 21, and since then Pavel has been behind bars.
