Minsk Milk Plant Branches Went On Strike

Minsk Milk Plant Branches Went On Strike

Strikes were held not only in Maladzechna, but also at the Valozhyn and Narach branches.

In the afternoon of May 11, employees of the Maladzechna branch of Minsk Dairy Plant No. 1 went on strike because of low wages. They gathered at the checkpoint and threatened to quit. Zerkalo.io found out details from the workers of the plant.

As it was specified by the employees of the plant, the strikes took place not only in Maladzechna, but also at the Valozhyn and Narach branches.

The strike at the Maladzechna branch started in the morning, when a lot of people at the plant refused to work and went to see the management.

- In the morning, they went to the executive management, they called Minsk and reported that people did not start working. It was the same at the Valozhyn branch: nobody was working there at all, and as far as I know, there were even no shipments. The same situation was in Narach: I know that people were waiting, they didn't go to work, - says one of the employees.

It was not possible to find a common language at first, another woman says, and adds that despite threats of dismissal, the strike continued.

- Our people were threatened and told to work: "If you don't go to work, we'll fire you". But it was the ''nearby'' management, which is in Maladzechna, - she explains.

However, after the management of the Minsk Milk Factory arrived, around lunch time, it seems, a compromise was reached.

- We were promised that everyone would be paid a lump sum for April, - says another employee. - They said that when our Molodechno dairy factory joined to Minsk, they made us the wrong rates. That is, as we understand it, the economists have miscalculated the tariff rate and we have been paid very, very poorly.

What is going to happen and how the salaries will be recalculated in May, the employees of the enterprise do not know yet. Some of them returned to work after being promised payments.

We remind you that the workers said the problems started when in February 2022, the Maladzechna Dairy Factory became the production section of the Minsk Dairy Plant. According to them, there are vacancies at the enterprise, but the wages are 200-300 rubles, while before people used to get 800-1000, "and there was work and good orders".

The workers don't know why their wages have been cut several times, because they were promised three months ago that they would receive the same wages. The number of employees has also decreased: according to them, whereas previously there were 200 people working at the plant, now there are only 50.
