Biden Signs Bill On Provision Ukraine With $ 40 Billion

What does the new assistance package include?

On May 21, US President Joe Biden signed a law that provides for the allocation of about $40 billion in aid to Ukraine. This was reported by the White House press-center.

On May 21, 2022, President of the United States activated the “Additional Ukraine Supplemental Appropriations Act, 2022,” which provides supplemental emergency appropriations for fiscal year 2022 to Federal agencies to respond to the situation in, and for assistance to, Ukraine, stated in the message.

The American leader signed the document during his visit to the Republic of Korea.

As noted by Voice of America, the new assistance package includes:

more than $4 billion in humanitarian aid to Ukraine and other countries affected by the consequences of the war;

$350 million to help refugees;

almost $9 billion, which will be directed to an economic support fund for Ukraine and other countries indirectly affected by the conflict;

almost $15 billion, of which about $6 billion will be used to strengthen Ukraine's security, and $8.7 billion to replenish stocks of American military equipment transferred to Ukraine;

foreign military funding of $4 billion to support Ukraine and other countries affected by the crisis;

$100 million for nuclear non-proliferation, counter-terrorism and demining programs;

$200 million for US State Department diplomatic programs to respond to the situation in Ukraine and countries affected by the conflict;

$110 million for security, construction and maintenance of the US Embassy in Ukraine.

In addition, the bill provides for up to $11 billion in presidential fundraising powers. They allow the President of the United States to authorize the transfer of goods and services without congressional approval in the event of an emergency.
