The enemy will simply run away.

The Ukrainian armed forces will now find it more difficult to expel the Russian occupiers from Kherson and the region. The reason is that the fighting on the front line between Mykolayiv and Kherson regions has become positional, "every area there is shot through and everything is mined."

In this regard, a new offensive by the occupiers towards Mykolayiv looks unlikely, Army Major-General Dmytro Marchenko, who recently was in charge of the town' defence, told Krym.Realii.

"We lost a little bit of very important operational time and gave them an opportunity to strengthen a little. Some individual units are very well set up there now, and they are shelling important positions monotonously, daily, thereby demoralizing the people. I will tell it like it is: if we had enough forces and means, which we unfortunately lack (equipment, weapons, artillery, air defense, air support), if we accelerated, believe me, they would have stopped already behind the Kerch Bridge," he said.

Marchenko also assessed the enemy defence in the Kherson direction, calling it "cowardly defence".

"Yes, they are pouring concrete. But believe me, when there is a massive offensive, a counterattack, they will all run. Because they are unmotivated. They have no desire, no motivation. They were driven there with whips and forced to fight. Nobody forced us to fight, we are fighting for our home. We have no other option, our homeland is one and no one will give us another," the general added.
