Teenager Brings Fight To Ex-Chief Of Main Directorate For Combating Organized Crime And Corruption

The latter started shooting at the children in response.

As Nasha Niva has learned, notorious Andrei Parshyn, one of the main organizers of mass repression in Belarus and, until recently, the head of the Main Directorate for Combating Organized Crime and Corruption, got involved in an unpleasant incident. He tried to disperse a group of children near his house (the youngest was 11), but suffered a rebuff from a 16-year-old boy. The result: the boy is in hospital with his leg shot, Parshyn has a concussion.

"A group of five kids were sitting on a bench near the entrance in "Cascade". A couple of girls, some boys. The youngest in the group was 11 years old. Everyone is on holiday, they were just hanging out - it was a little earlier than 7 pm," eyewitnesses told Nasha Niva the circumstances of the story. "At some point Colonel Andrei Parshyn was returning home and started a conflict with the children. He said, why are you sitting there, is it your entrance? Not yours? Piss off. Only using foul language".

In response to the man's accusations the oldest of the children, 16-year-old Yauhen D. said that "they live in a free country and they are free to choose a bench". In response, Parshyn became furious and started hitting the teenager - in his face and neck.

"He grabbed his shirt, ripped it with one move, and slapped the boy in the face. But Yauhen is a Candidate Master of Sports in rowing, an athletic guy. He found a counter-argument, which resulted in the attacker falling to the ground. When he got up, he started shooting at the children with his gun," witnesses said.

As a result, Yauhen D. was wounded. The bullet hit his leg.

"After that, Parshyn took the gun home and called an ambulance, and the police and some other unknown people. While the paramedics were saving Yauhen, people in plainclothes were getting at the other children in the car. The children were told that if they started talking about what had happened they would all go to jail. After that the children were taken away in other police cars," witnesses said.

We don't know whether Parshyn used assault or traumatic weapons, but we do know that at the moment the boy is under police escort in a military hospital. He's already had two surgeries.

A criminal case under the article "hooliganism" has been initiated against him. The family was searched at night by officers of the Main Directorate for Combating Organized Crime and Corruption. The boy's underage girlfriend, who is 14, apparently spent the night at the police station as well. The fate of the others is unknown, most likely they were not detained.

Yauhen has a large family, his parents bring up four children.

"He has a very good mother. The children are brought up in strictness, honesty and order. Yauhen has only positive references, he is a decent, sensible guy. He is a sportsman, handsome, not confrontational. Responsible for his relatives, because he is growing up in a big family, he is not a fool in studies," says a family member familiar with the situation.

"The whole house is in shock. How is it? The man serves in the police, is trained, is supposed to know the laws. Even if the children were noisy, then what - shoot them? There are some patrol officers who can be called, there are some other methods of holding discussions, everybody is horrified," says a resident of the building.

According to "Nasha Niva" Andrei Parshyn suffered a concussion after the conflict with the teenager.

Andrei Parshyn headed the department of internal security of the Interior Ministry, after which he was appointed head of the Main Directorate for Combating Organized Crime and Corruption in early 2021.

Headed by him, the Main Directorate for Combating Organized Crime and Corruption played a central role in political repression: political structures, independent media, culture and business were destroyed under his command, and tens of thousands of people fled their homeland.

Parshyn was recently appointed to a General's post in the Department of Operational and Investigative Activities of the Ministry of Internal Affairs. Parshyn has a flat in "Cascade".
