Moscow is on fire again. The Grand Setun Plaza business centre in the Russian capital is burning heavily. The fire has been given the maximum level of difficulty - 5.
According to a TASS source, up to 20 people may be on the top floors of the building. Cries for help could be heard from the 7th floor and rescuers went out to search for them, UNIAN reported.
No casualties have been reported so far and 120 people have been evacuated from the building. Head of the Emergencies Ministry Aleksandr Kurenkov arrived there.
According to the emergency services, as of 10:00 a.m. the area of the fire was 1,000 square meters. According to the Moscow news agency, the fire was preceded by an explosion-like sound on the first floor of the building near the main entrance. "Podyem" writes that in the first minutes of the evacuation one could smell burning wiring. There is also a version that it was arson. The exact cause of the fire is not yet known.
Head of the Emergencies Ministry Aleksandr Kurenkov, Deputy Emergency Situations Minister Ilya Denisov, as well as Kuntsevo inter-district prosecutor Oleg Akatov arrived at the scene of the accident. The Moscow prosecutor's office is carrying out an investigation.
Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin has also commented on the emergency. "I have given instructions to take all necessary measures to evacuate people and eliminate the fire," the mayor said.
