Johnson Turned Out For Ukrainian Cossackhood, Named Borys Chupryna

A certificate confirming this will be sent to the Prime Minister of Great Britain himself.

The Chernihiv Cossack community of Saint Catherine Church decided to turn British Prime Minister Boris Johnson out for Cossackhood. A certificate confirming this will be sent to London.

It is reported by Suspilne.

"This is our respect to this outstanding person for his support of Ukraine. Please note that he signs on Instagram as Johnsonyuk — this is a British surname in the Ukrainian manner. So this is not our idea, but he himself told us what to do," Andriy Lesnoy, Deputy Director General of the Chernihiv Regional Historical Museum named after Tarnovsky, said.

He also explained why such a surname was chosen for the new Cossack.

"Why Chupryna? Because you see that his hair is loose on his head, it emphasizes his character, emphasizes his will. You can see right on his face that he is a great person. It was this feature that we wanted to emphasize so that in the future, when we say — Borys Chupryna, everyone knows who this refers to," says Lesnoy.

In memory of turning out for the Cossacks, Kyiv masters Daria Dobryakova and Yuri Kutilov painted Boris in the image of "Cossack Mamai". One such painting will remain in the Chernihiv museum, the other will be sent to London along with the certificates.

This is not the first time that the Prime Minister of Great Britain has been praised in the Chernihiv region. At the end of May, they offered in Novgorod-Seversky to rename Rokossovsky Street in honor of Boris Johnson.
