Public Prosecutor Requests 1.5 Years In Prison Each For Zmitser And Nasta Dashkevichs

The couple has just welcomed their fourth child.

The state prosecutor requested to sentence Zmitser and Nasta Dashkevichs to 1.5 years in prison each, the Viasna human rights center reports. The verdict will be announced on July 14.

Zmitser and Nasta are accused under Article 342 of the Criminal Code of Belarus (organization and preparation of actions that grossly violate public order, or active participation in them). According to investigators, they took part in a protest action on August 23, 2020 in Minsk.

The trial of the Dashkevichs began today. Both refused to testify and admitted only that they were present at the march that day.

Zmitser was detained in March 2022. Before the trial, he was in a pre-trial detention center. A month ago, the Dashkevichs welcomed a son — this is the fourth child in the family.
