Vilnius declared that it was impossible to fulfill the agreement.
Lithuania has denounced agreements with Belarus on cross-border cooperation. It is reported by the Lithuanian publication Delfi.
The decision was made in connection with the political situation in Belarus after 2020, rigged elections, instrumentalization of migrants by the Lukashenka regime and Belarus' involvement in the war against Ukraine.
Vilnius stated that in the current geopolitical situation, the implementation of the agreement is impossible and doesn’t seem possible in the near future.
The agreement was signed in 2006. The proposal to denounce it was made by the Lithuanian Ministry of the Interior.
As the website Charter97.org reported earlier, Ukraine broke the double taxation agreement with Belarus.
