Pruzhany Resident Sentenced To Two Years Of Serving Term At Place Of Residence For 'Insulting' Official

Judge Mazol passed the sentence.

On December 28, 2022, the Pruzhany district court considered the case of Maksim Mitskevich under Art. 369 ("insulting a representative of the authority") of the Criminal Code. Judge Vadzim Mazol sentenced Maksim to two years of imprisonment without sending him to an open institution (serving sentence at place of residence), human rights activists report.

Maksim was detained from November 8 to 10, 2022. Then his preventive measure was changed to a written pledge not to leave.

The Pruzhany court accused the man of leaving "insulting comments" on the employees of the state agencies for coordination of foreign policy and foreign economic activity under a publication on a telegram channel on April 29, 2021.

Maksim Matskevich has a secondary education and worked as a developer of raw materials at a company in Pruzhany.
