Belarusian Embassy In Israel Still 'Working On Issue Of Evacuation'

Neighbouring Poland is already removing its citizens.

On Saturday, October 7, Hamas militants entered Israeli territory and launched thousands of rocket attacks on the country. Two citizens of Belarus suffered from the shelling in the city of Ashkelon. Zerkalo journalist, as a regular Belarusian, called the Belarusian embassy in Tel Aviv and asked how to evacuate a relative from the country.

- Will Belarusian citizens be evacuated from Israel? - asked the journalist.

- At the moment, there are no centralised evacuation measures, - answered the hotline of the embassy. - We are working on this issue. If your relative calls, we will record his details. At least he will be on our list. If you need to leave Israel quickly, there are regular flights of Israeli airlines: El Al Israel ("El Al"), Israir. They fly to Moscow, Istanbul, Tbilisi (in these cities you can change to Belavia flights). They even increase the frequency of flights - against the background of other companies cancelling them. But the situation changes from hour to hour, from day to day. Perhaps someone will resume flights - there will be more options.

- You say that the issue of evacuation is being worked out. When will there be more concrete information?

- We are studying the issue. But there's no sense to talk about it yet.

- Do you know how the Belarusians, who came under fire in Ashkelon, are doing?

- (pause) I know. Alive, let's put it that way.

Meanwhile, the first two military planes carrying Poles evacuated from Israel landed at Warsaw airport this morning.

A military Boeing is now flying to Israel to pick up more Polish citizens.
