Poland Deploys New Tank Battalion Near Belarusian Border

Poland has deployed a new tank battalion in the east of the country, which will be part of the 1st Infantry Division, said Mariusz Blaszczak, the Republic's Minister of National Defence.

"A new tank battalion <...> that will be part of the 1st Infantry Division, whose task is to deter the aggressor and ensure security, if we look at the directions of attack from the east," the military chief said.

According to him, there is a big difference between what happened before 2015 and what is happening now. He recalled that before, military units in the eastern regions were being liquidated, but now Warsaw is building up military capabilities. "We are building and forming new military units. We are recruiting young volunteers for the army, those who want to link their future with the Polish army. We are equipping these units with modern weapons," the minister stressed.
