Editor-In-Chief Of 'Regional Newspaper' Sentenced To Four Years In Colony

The verdict to Aliaksandr Mantsevich has been delivered today.

The editor-in-chief of the independent "Regional Newspaper" Aliaksandr Mantsevich was tried in Maladzechna.

He was accused of "spreading deliberately false information that discredits Belarus and its authorities," the court passed a sentence on November 3, reported the Human Rights Centre "Viasna".

The case was considered by Judge Aliaksei Irshyn, the prosecutor was Aliaksandr Martsinchyk.

The court sentenced Mantsevich to four years of general regime colony and a fine of 94 thousand rubles.
