Chairman of the KGB of Belarus Ivan Tsiartsel said that CIA employees were identified in Minsk. As BelTA writes, he said that in the course of counterintelligence work, “the arrival of foreign diplomats, sometimes intelligence officers for various purposes,” is recorded.

“They have an interesting reaction when they visit Minsk and various objects. Recently there were CIA employees and they moved very actively around Minsk,” the state agency quotes Tsiartsel as saying.

He added that allegedly CIA employees were surprised by the state of affairs in the Belarusian capital, because it does not correspond to the ideas prevailing in the West. Tsiartseldid not specify when counterintelligence identified the CIA employees, what they were doing, whether there were any complaints against them, whether they were still in Minsk, or whether the KGB took any measures to counter their mission.
