The MEP appealed to the Lukashenka regime.
Member of the European Parliament, former Foreign Minister of Poland Anna Fotyga demands from Lukashenka's regime to release Belarusian opposition leader Mikalai Statkevich and other political prisoners immediately. She compared what's happening in Belarus to the martial law in Poland in the 1980s:
"'Troublemakers' hands should be tied', announced #Jaruzelski, leader of the communist military junta, while introducing #MartialLaw in Poland on 13 December 1981. 42 years later, nowadays, the same methods are being used by usurper #Lukashenko against innocent people.

Where are Mikalai Statkevich and other opponents of the regime? All political prisoners must be released unconditionally now. We must do everything possible to achieve this goal and help their families. We must show this solidarity.
We remind you that nothing is known about the leader of the Belarusian opposition Mikalai Statkevich for more than 300 days.
Natallia Radzina, editor-in-chief of Charter97.org, demanded from the Belarusian authorities to refute the information received from several sources about Mikalai Statkevich's possible death in prison.
"Show Mikalai Statkevich, if he is alive, to his nearest and dearest person - Maryna Adamovich. Allow them a date or at least a video call!
Otherwise, your silence will mean that the sources are right and the death of another political prisoner is on the conscience of Lukashenka and his executioners," said Natallia Radzina.
