Kalibr Missiles And KABs Aboard: New Insights Into Russian Losses Following Sinking Of ‘Novocherkassk’

The landing ship was loaded to capacity.

The attacked Russian large landing ship “Novocherkassk” in Feodosia was loaded to the brim with ammunition. Among other things, there were Kalibr missiles and KAB bombs. The Russian anonymous Telegram channel “Kremlin Snuffbox” writes about this, citing its sources in the navy.

“There was a strong detonation. The landing ship was loaded to capacity,” said the public’s interlocutor.

According to him, there were at least 2 Kalibr missiles on board. There were also other high-precision weapons, in particular KAB-500 aerial bombs — at least 4 pieces. There were other weapons as well.

At least 23 crew members were killed when the ship was hit and ammunition detonated on board, the source said. Most of them, by order of the command, were on the ship, and not in the barracks.

“Dozens of bodies, some burned alive right in the cabins. Horror,” said one of the sailors.

On the night of December 26, the Ukrainian Defense Forces attacked the Novocherkassk large landing ship in Feodosia in the occupied Crimea. The attack was carried out by Air Force pilots using cruise missiles.

The Ukrainian Air Force reported that at the time of the attack the ship could have been carrying ammunition and Iranian Shahed-type kamikaze drones.

Later, satellite images of the destroyed ship were released — it sank to the bottom. The media also reported that another ship partially sank.
