NYT: Israeli Army Preparing Major Operation In Gaza Strip

The next stage of the war between Israel and Hamas militants will not be open-ended. In the coming weeks, the Israeli army is going to conduct a "high-intensity" operation in the Gaza Strip, after which the intensity of the fighting is likely to decrease.

A senior Israeli official, who spoke on condition of anonymity, told the NYT about this. "The Israeli army will conduct a high-intensity operation in the coming weeks and then will likely shift to a low-intensity mode," the official told the NYT.

The official's statement came after Israeli defence chief Yoav Galant announced the day before that the IDF's military operation against Hamas in the Palestinian enclave had resumed in full force. According to the minister, the Israeli military are "continuing from where they stopped."
