Ukraine Is Developing Fatal Weapon For Kerch Bridge

The massive attack on Crimea was a dress rehearsal.

The temporarily occupied Crimean peninsula is increasingly shaken by explosions at military facilities. However, the main target is still the Kerch Bridge, which the Ukrainian forces have already managed to damage.

Ukraine is developing long-range weapons, which have every chance of sending the bridge after the Russian ship [destroy - Ed.]. Roman Svitan, military expert, reserve colonel of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and instructor pilot told 24 Channel about this.

It's loud in Crimea

On December 4, another massive attack rocked the temporarily occupied Crimea. Russian publics wrote that the Ukrainian forces were looking for Russian S-400 systems in the area of Kerch, Feodosia and the Kerchin Bridge. The bridge was blocked and cut from power.

Recall that recently a powerful storm destroyed some of the bridge’s defensive barriers and damaged it in several places so that it was blocked.

“There was an attack last night – about 40 drones were seeking air defence systems, and then there was an attack on the targets in the area of the Kerch Bridge,” Svitan said.

He suggested that after intensifying the production of Ukrainian drones, the number of UAVs in attacks would increase to 30 - 40. The Russians managed to shoot down some of the drones over the past 24 hours, and some completed a combat mission.

“Ukroboronprom is beginning to please us with production volumes. 30 – 40 drones in one wave is the optimal number for destroying a specific target,” explained the reserve colonel.

Ukraine will improve the Neptune missile system

The other day, Lieutenant General of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Ivan Havrilyuk said that Ukraine has already modernized the Neptune anti-ship missiles. Probably, modernization can happen in such a way that the missile will become fully suitable for ground targets, with a range of 400 kilometers, the warhead will be tripled, from 150 to 350 kilograms, but in general, this is not the limit of modernization.

Svitan said that the Neptune missile system uses the basic Kh-55 missile, the production of which began during the times of the Soviet Union, but all production took place on the territory of Ukraine. Ukrainian developers have improved this missile from the air-to-ship to the ground-to-surface type.

The military expert explained that the missile could be improved, increasing its range to 500 kilometers and the weight of the warhead to half a ton.

“They will probably modify it gradually because the launcher will need to be changed because the missile will become longer than a meter or one and a half and will be wider. It is imperative to follow this path because the range of destruction of Russian military facilities must be at least 500 kilometers. Such a range will break the enemy’s logistics,” the analyst said.

He explained that this type of weapon could be fatal for the Kerch Bridge. After all, not a single drone can hit and destroy a concrete structure but several missiles – optimally ten with a half-ton warhead – can cause significant damage and freeze movement there.
