China Intends To Grab A Piece Of Russian Pie

Beijing benefits from the defeat of the Kremlin.

China takes a very ambiguous position regarding Russia's invasion of Ukraine. Chinese leader Xi Jinping did not try to prevent this war in any way, because the defeat of Russia is very beneficial for Beijing.

This opinion was expressed by Russian human rights activist Mark Feygin on the air of Channel 24. According to him, China is trying to gain something after losing to Russia. The aggressor country is completely dependent on Beijing.

“China decided to “grab” something from the loss. Russia is very dependent on China. Either lose or enter into these relationships, which may first involve economic expansion in the Far East, Eastern Siberia, and Transbaikalia. And later — complete economic and political subjugation,” he said.

Feygin noted that it is extremely beneficial for Xi Jinping that Putin be weak but remain in power. The human rights activist stressed that even if not someone from the opposition, but from the dictator's entourage becomes president, they will also be more oriented towards the West.

“Even if someone new comes, not because of a democratic revolution, but from Putin’s entourage, they will be oriented towards the West and the lifting of sanctions. Beijing benefits from Russia being weak and dependent on China. Xi Jinping is very satisfied with Putin,” he said.

Mark Feigin argues that in any case, China will want Russia to lose this war. Even if for a while the aggressor country leaves behind the occupied territories, the war will not end with the victory of Russia.

According to the human rights activist, China will not fully support Russia also because it will suffer economically.

“I find it hard to imagine that Beijing does not understand this. They calculate everything. Because losing $750 million from Europe and the same amount from the US would be a disaster. I don’t think that China will decide on such an adventure,” Feygin added.
