The Committee for State Security (KGB) reported that a foreign citizen was killed in Hrodna during armed resistance to a KGB special unit. The Committee for State Security provided this information on its webpage.

The report reads that on Sunday, March 19, a foreign citizen L. was liquidated during the implementation of special measures to suppress the activities of individuals who entered the territory of Belarus with the aim of committing a terrorist act. The KGB clarified that everything happened in Hrodna on Kurchatov Street.

The security services claim that this citizen, using automatic guns, as well as detonating live grenades, offered armed resistance to the A Group KGB special forces fighters.

It is reported that the Investigative Department of the Committee for State Security initiated a criminal case due to the developments. In addition, law enforcement intelligence, as well as investigative actions, are carried out jointly with the State Border Committee, the Ministry of Internal Affairs and other law enforcement bodies.

According to the KGB, law enforcement officers and civilians were not injured during the special operation.
