May 9 Military Parades Canceled In Two More Russian Cities

For security reasons.

The administrations of Oryol and Pskov have canceled military parades on May 9 for security reasons. Oryol is located 160 km from the Ukrainian border, Pskov 650 km.

It is reported by RBC with reference to the statements of the governors.

In particular, the governor of the Pskov region, Mikhail Vedernikov, said that the issue was discussed at the anti-terrorist commission of the operational headquarters of the Pskov region and a decision was made not to hold solemn parades in the usual format. There will also be no salutes and fireworks, so as not to “provoke crowds”.

In addition, the governor of the Oryol region Andrey Klychkov announced the cancellation of the parade. “We will conduct the Immortal Regiment in an interactive format, displaying photos of relatives on cars or taking photos when we walk in the city on holidays,” he wrote on the local social media VKontakte.

Earlier, military parades for May 9 were canceled in the border regions of Bryansk, Kursk and Belgorod, as well as in the occupied Crimea. Governor Vyacheslav Gladkov announced that he did not want to “provoke the enemy with a large accumulation of equipment and military personnel in the center of Belgorod”. There will be no traditional processions of the “Immortal Regiment” throughout Russia.
