Ukrainian troops began targeting the "fat" target.

The Russian invaders use Luhansk as a military hub located 100 kilometres from the frontline. Therefore, a number of facilities in this city are a “fat” target for Ukrainian defenders.

Roman Svitan, a military expert, retired colonel of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and flight instructor, spoke about this in an interview with 24 Channel.

According to him, if the Armed Forces of Ukraine began to operate in Luhansk, then breakthroughs in that direction are possible.

Explosions in Luhansk - preparing the battlefield

Colonel Svitan noted that a large number of Russian occupation troops were concentrated on the territory of the flying school in Luhansk. Recently, they have used this city as a military hub located 100 kilometres from the frontline.

According to him, the invaders deployed military ammunition, depots and repair shops there.

“That is, Luhansk is now a ‘fat’ military target for us. Since the offensive has already begun, then, of course, the preparation of the so-called battlefield is underway,” said the reserve colonel.

According to him, if the Armed Forces of Ukraine began to “work” in Luhansk, then there may be breakthroughs in that direction. In particular, along the Siverskyi Donets River, you can reach Luhansk, hiding behind this river. This is one of the promising areas for a breakthrough.

The military expert noted that the Russian troops understand that such a Ukrainian movement is to encircle the Donbas, so they are trying to somehow stop the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the Belohorivka area.

What are the prospects in this direction?

The reserve colonel explained that going along the Siverskyi Donets River, the Armed Forces of Ukraine need to strengthen only one flank - the one from the Russian side. And the river will be a natural obstacle. Therefore, you can reach the Don River by hiding behind the river. And then go down to Rostov along the Don River. There will be a raid of about more than 200 kilometres.

“But it [the raid - Ed.] will solve many problems. It will close the 300,000-strong Russian army in Ukraine,” Svitan said.

That is, he stressed, the Armed Forces of Ukraine will immediately cut off everything from Russia, including the land corridor. They will cover the Siverskyi Donets River, and then the Don River, the same with the Dnipro River. That is, it will be necessary to deal with only one flank, because the Russians will have nothing to force the Don River.

Then, according to him, the entire Russian army will be in operational encirclement. And after the destruction of the Crimean Bridge, the 300,000-strong army will already be completely surrounded. This is one of the options that is definitely on the table of the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, everything will depend on the forces and means.
