‘Phones, Household Appliances’: United States Announces New Export Restrictions Against Belarus, Russia

More than 1200 positions fell under the restrictions.
The United States of America has announced new export restrictions against Russia and Belarus. Now these countries will be banned from importing phones, voice recorders and household appliances. It is reported by RBC-Ukraine with a reference to the page of the decision of the U.S. Bureau of Industry and Security.
“Additional 1,224 industrial products added to the list will now require a license for export or re-export and transfer within Russia and Belarus,” the agency said in a document.
Tools and electrical appliances, photographic paper and other paper products, paints, fabrics, boats and passenger transport, food industry equipment have been added to the list of export control measures.
The United States also imposed a ban on the import of a number of telephones, voice recorders, microphones and household appliances into the Russian Federation. The U.S. Department of Commerce has imposed sanctions on Russian defense industry enterprises. We are talking about NPP Prima, NPO Izhevsk Unmanned Systems, Strela, Rostvertol.
The Bryansk Automobile Plant, the Ural Automobile Plant, the Ural Civil Aviation Plant and the Ulan-Ude Aviation Plant fell under the new restrictions.
These businesses are subject to additional requirements for export, re-export and transfer agreements involving blacklisted businesses.
What is an export restriction? This is a restriction on the export of goods to a certain country by the government. Such restrictions may be imposed as necessary to limit the spread of military or dual technologies.
