General Syrsky has disclosed the operational situation in the fighting for the town.
The occupiers are trying to offer "desperate resistance" to the Ukrainian offensive in the Bakhmut direction. To this end, under the cover of artillery and aviation, the Russians are pulling in reserves, but this does not prevent the Ukrainian Armed Forces from pushing the enemy back on the outskirts of Bakhmut.
This was reported by RBC-Ukraine, citing a statement by the commander of the Ground Forces, Oleksandr Syrsky.
According to the general, the situation in the area of responsibility of the Eastern grouping of troops remains tense.
Ukrainian Army's Successes
The Ukrainian military is conducting offensives in certain directions, occupying dominant heights, forest belts in order to push the enemy gradually out of the approaches to Bakhmut.
"Realizing this, the enemy units put up a desperate resistance," Syrsky says.
Current Enemy Action
Despite the advance of the AFU in the south and the loss of territory and settlements in this direction, the enemy continues to move some of its most combat-ready units to the Bakhmut direction, combining these actions with heavy artillery fire and assault and army aviation strikes on Ukrainian positions.
Enemy Losses at Bakhmut
According to Syrsky, the occupiers are steadily losing hardware near Bakhmut. In particular, the general showed a video of how the artillery of the 28 SMBr destroyed two units of enemy vehicles in the Bakhmut direction.
"The correction of fire was carried out from a Mavic 3T quadcopter," Syrsky noted.
Situation on the Front
The AFU continues to move in all directions involved in the offensive. The Ukrainian armed forces have now pushed back the enemy to a distance of about a kilometre.
Oleksiy Gromov, a representative of the AFU General Staff, said at a briefing on June 15 that the AFU is moving on its flanks in the Bakhmut direction, while the Russians are defending because "the 'second world army' is not capable of more".
