Homel Human Rights Activist Leanid Sudalenka Released

The laureate of the Charter-97 award has completely served his term.

The well-known Homel human rights activist Leanid Sudalenka was released today, according to the Charter-97% Telegram channel.

Well-known lawyer, laureate of the Charter-97 award and the French award “Freedom. Brotherhood. Equality” Leanid Sudalenka was detained on January 18, 2021 on his way to work. He was charged under Article 342 of the Criminal Code (group actions grossly violating public order) and sentenced to three years in prison in a colony under general regime conditions.

Leanid ran the Homel branch of the Viasna human rights center and helped the people detained during protests write complaints, and also defended workers whose rights were violated by employers in courts. In fact, he ended up behind bars for this.
