School Student’s Mom Outraged By Teacher’s Message

The Belarusian woman harshly expressed her opinion about the new school diaries.

“They don’t give parents any opportunity to spend the rest of vacations peacefully! It’s twenty days till September 1st, and they already sent a sample of how a school diary should look like in the class social media group,” a school student’s mother writes to the editorial office of the Charter97.org.

“So, here I am, sunbathing on a lake shore, when suddenly a message comes from the teacher comes, which nearly knocked me out! So I am taking a good look at the cover of the new school diary. There’s a “Soviet-style cabbage” of a coat-of-arms and a red-green rug of a flag at the top, all the same but in reverse order at the bottom, and the photo of the Victory Square with the words “The Feast of the People Remains Immortal” in the middle.

So I am thinking how to stuck deep inside all the disgust, shame, and helplessness to be able to go and buy this “masterpiece”. Of course we will modify it later at home: put a sticker over the cover, paint something, cover it all up, so as there is no sign of this sunset over the swamp.

I recalled by school years, it seems to me now that those were free years after all, when we had kittens and puppies on out diaries, and movie characters. It was such a joy to show your diary to classmates and see theirs.

But I do believe that soon the “cabbage” and the “rug” will be wiped away not only from school diaries, but from the state. And every child will be able to choose a diary not following somebody’s order, but according to their taste. As for me, today I would choose a diary with an image of the Kastus Kalinouski Square with the words:

— Who do you love!

— I love Belarus!

— That’s mutual!
