WebMoney Stops Working With Belarusian Ruble

Belarusians have time to withdraw funds.

It is now impossible to top off the WebMoney purse in Belarusian rubles in Belarus. Since 21 August, Belarusians can only withdraw funds in the system, and a certain period of time has been set for this. Meanwhile, WebMoney states that they continue to work as a payment system in our country. "In the near future, the new WebMoney payment system will be included in the register of payment systems in Belarus," reported in the company.

The topping-up of WebMoney wallet is no longer available in Belarus, a consultant of "Technobank" told the journalist of zerkalo.io as an individual. This financial institution acts as an operator of the system. Only withdrawal of funds from the e-wallet remains available. It will be possible to withdraw funds for three months from the date of introduction of changes on August 21.

Moreover, Belarusians can't open a new wallet temporarily. This restriction is related to the technical work.

The contact centre doesn't know whether the possibility to replenish e-wallets in this system will be resumed, as well as when Belarusians will be able to open new "accounts" again.

The current changes do not mean that WebMoney is leaving the Belarusian market. The company says it intends to work as a payment system of Belarus.

"WebMoney company continues its work as a payment system in the Republic of Belarus. In the near future, the new payment system WebMoney will be entered in the register of payment systems of the Republic of Belarus," the company says. "All client programmes of WebMoney (Keeper, Enum and others) will continue their work in the usual normal mode".

It's still unknown on what terms WebMoney will work as a Belarusian payment system. Technobank did not manage to find out the details.
