The Czech Republic Seized Family Assets Of Leading Russian Rocket Constructor

The financial police arrested 14 apartments in the elite districts of Prague.

The Czech Financial Analytical Office seized the assets of Boris Obnosov’s family, the head of the Russian rocket company, including those belonging to his daughter and son-in-law. All three are on the country's sanctions list.

The fortune of the Obnosov family in the Czech Republic is estimated at more than CZK 100 million (EUR 4.15 million). The largest share belongs to Obnosov’s son-in-law, Rostislav Zorikov.

The Czech financial police arrested fourteen of Zorikov’s apartments in the elite districts of Prague, as well as the assets of Zorikov's real estate rental company Riomax. Nevertheless, he managed to transfer a stake in his other Czech company, Altera, to his father just before the sanctions.

Rostislav Zorikov has been a permanent resident of the Czech Republic since at least June 2020 and, according to some reports, he still lives in Prague.

Last week, the Czech government included Obnosov, his daughter Olga and son-in-law Rostislav on the sanctions list. Boris Obnosov is the CEO of the Russian Tactical Missiles Corporation (KTRV), a state-owned company, which produces weapons systems and supplies them to the Russian Armed Forces. His daughter owns a 20% stake in the KTRV.

According to the law, a court can challenge the imposition of national sanctions. The Municipal Court of Prague will consider the case at first instance.

In general, the Czech Republic has frozen sanctioned assets in the amount of more than 415 million euros.
