Russian citizens can only cross the border by bus and on foot.
If a car registered in Russia arrives in Lithuania, the driver, whose traffic does not go through the Kaliningrad transit, will face confiscation of the car, says Deputy Foreign Minister Jovita Neliupšienė. She was commenting on the updated clarification of the European Commission (EC), which prohibits any, even temporary, import of cars from Russia to the European Union (EU), writes Delfi.
"Anyone crossing the border, whether a Russian citizen or an EU citizen, travelling with Russian-registered (car - ELTA) plates, if they do not have documents proving that they are using the Kaliningrad transit, must be warned that their car will be confiscated upon entry," J. Neliupšienė stressed on LRT TV on Monday.
"Currently, Russian citizens can only cross the border if they have this right - by bus or on foot," she stressed. The EC's clarification, updated on Friday, states that cars or other personal items subject to sanctions, such as cameras, laptops, telephones, cigarettes, razors, shampoo, soap and other goods, cannot be brought into the EU, even temporarily.
