Azerbaijan Launches Military Operations In Karabakh

Baku informed Russia about it.

Azerbaijan has started "anti-terrorist measures of local character" in Karabakh.

This is reported by Trend with reference to the Ministry of Defence of Azerbaijan.

Azerbaijani Defence Ministry announced the beginning of "local anti-terrorist measures in the Karabakh economic region", where Armenian armed forces continue to stay.

According to the Azerbaijani Defence Ministry, these measures are aimed at "suppressing provocations", disarming and withdrawing Armenian forces, neutralising their military infrastructure, ensuring the security of the peaceful population and restoring the constitutional order of the Republic of Azerbaijan.

In the course of the measures, positions, firing points, military means and military facilities of the Armenian forces are put out of action with the use of high-precision weapons.

The Ministry of Defence of Azerbaijan claims that the civilian population and civilian infrastructure objects are not targets.

Russian peacekeepers and the Turkish-Russian Monitoring Centre have been informed of the activities.

Azerbaijan also said it was closing the country's airspace to Armenia.

Former Minister of State Ruben Vardanyan, who is in unrecognised Nagorno-Karabakh, reported massive artillery shelling by the Azerbaijani Armed Forces. "We have a massive artillery shelling started," he wrote on his Telegram channel. Various internet users from Nagorno-Karabakh also report strikes on Stepanakert and an air alert.
