'It's Just Fascism': Russians Howl After Onset Of Utility Collapse

Residents of dozens of Russian regions are facing a heating cut-off in the first weeks of 2024.

The communal collapse spreads to a growing number of towns in Moscow region, the authorities are trying to convince that they are solving the problem, writes the "We Can Explain" Telegram-channel.

Following Podolsk, the state of emergency was introduced in Khimki near Moscow - 60 apartment blocks were left without heat. Contrary to the promises of Governor Andrei Vorobyov the heat did not return to the houses by the end of the week. "We were waiting for Europe to freeze and drown in rubbish, and in the end this is happening on the territory under your control", "This is just fascism on the part of Khimki elite", "Children at home are freezing, getting sick, why do you abuse people like this?" wrote disgruntled Khimki residents under the posts of the Governor.

Residents of Khimki and other Moscow Region districts told "We Can Explain" about how they survive without heat and how they are "helped" by the authorities.

"There is no normal heating in the flat since January 5. It is impossible to stay in one of the rooms at all. The authorities reported that they have done everything, fixed everything, but in fact - zero," said a Khimki resident.

Solnechnogorsk authorities reported about the stable work of the boiler house in the Vystrel microdistrict as early as January 9. But the residents did not notice it. "At the moment there is no heating and hot water. In January it became quite bad," said a local resident.

A new rupture occurred in Yakhroma (Dmitrovsky district) - the entire town was left without heat and hot water, including five kindergartens, a school and a boarding school. "It's freezing in the flat, as if you live in the street," wrote the residents of Yakhroma in the local chat room. The administration of Dmitrovsky district is blocking the residents who have written messages.

Residents of dozens of regions have faced a heating cut-off in the first weeks of 2024. On January 11, the entire left bank of Novosibirsk was left without heating. "It is impossible to stay in the house without outer clothing - 13 degrees in the afternoon taking into account two included oil heaters. The whole neighbourhood is staying without heating. Apparently, they just forgot about us," concludes the Novosibirsk resident.
