Maryna Adamovich Arrested For 15 Days

The wife of political prisoner Mikalai Statkevich, Maryna Adamovich, has been arrested for 15 days, reports the Viasna human rights centre. Today she was tried under Article 19.1 of the Administrative Code (petty hooliganism). The decision was taken by the court of the Zavadski district of Minsk.

According to human rights activists, at least 84 people were visited by law enforcement officials on 23 January. Some were detained, while others were released after being searched. Among those detained are Maryna Adamovich, Vitsebsk activist Barys Khamaida, former Catholic.by journalist Aksana Yuchkovich.

Human rights activists report that the arrest warrants include articles on "financing" and "participation in extremist formations".
