11 Employees Of The Largest Belarusian Light Industry Enterprises Have Been Detained Simultaneously

The Vitebsk Department For Economic Crimes Prevention conducted the arrests.

The Department for Economic Crimes Prevention of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee MIA reported that 11 officials of the largest enterprises of the light industry of Belarus were arrested for corruption. According to the head of the department Pavel Belianin, the amount of the bribes reached "tens of thousands of rubles." Criminal cases have been initiated against all of them.

The Department for Economic Crimes Prevention reported that 11 officials got money from a representative of a Vitebsk company for "favorable resolution of issues" regarding the purchase of sewing equipment, spare parts and components. Cash was transferred in order to win tenders and make timely payments for the delivered products.

A video published on the website of the Ministry of Internal Affairs shows how law enforcement officers detained one of the participants in the criminal scheme, asking how much money he had just been given. Having not received a clear answer, they found “tens of thousands of rubles” in the man’s back pocket.
