Georgia's Central Election Commission Says It Recounted Election Votes

But nothing has changed.

The Central Election Commission of Georgia said that after recounting the ballots at 12% of polling stations, where 14% of voters cast their ballots, this did not lead to "a significant change in the previously announced official results."

This was reported on Thursday, October 31, by the Central Election Commission.

The final protocols "only slightly" changed at 9% of the polling stations where the recount was conducted.

A partial recount allegedly confirmed the victory of the ruling Georgian Dream party in the parliamentary elections.

The recount took place on October 29, and the polling stations for it were selected by lot.

The head of the ENEMO (European Network for Election Monitoring) observation mission, Zlatko Vujović, reported serious violations in the elections, including violence against members of the opposition, intimidation of voters, discrediting campaigns aimed at observers, and abuse of administrative resources.

Georgian President Salome Zurabishvili also did not recognize the results of the parliamentary elections. The EU called on the Georgian authorities to investigate violations during the elections.
