Syria Has Become A Trap for Russians

There are no options yet except for the complete withdrawal of bases.

So far, the process of withdrawing Russian troops from Syria leaves no other options except for the eventual complete withdrawal.

The problem with Russian bases is that they are too small to defend them directly on-site. This is the same situation as with Palmyra. A town of one and a half kilometres surrounded by desert can only be held by a defence outside the city from a chain of outposts and alarm groups for reinforcement in case of an attack. The problem is that there cannot be many such alarm groups in such a small city, which is what the militants took advantage of when they captured Palmyra for the first time: they simulated an attack from one direction, and then broke through two outposts on the other, after which the entire defence immediately fell apart, and flight became the only correct decision. There were even videos of the militants entering the canteen, where there was still warm borscht on the tables.

The same story with the bases - it is impossible to defend them directly on the spot, and the defence moved deep into the territory will face the same problem - it is impossible to place a sufficient number of soldiers at the bases to reinforce several outposts at once. Previously, this problem was solved by Hezbollah, which guarded the outer perimeter of the bases, but now it is gone.

This means that the bases cannot function with any safety and will depend entirely on the decision of the "opposite side" - Erdogan, for example. As a result, sooner or later, but after any serious aggravation with Turkey or with the militants themselves, they will have to evacuate anyway. Well, keeping serious equipment at the bases is also not a good idea, since it is impossible to evacuate it in a short time.

Therefore, it is most likely that all forces and, if possible, weapons that were previously on the territory of Syria are now being withdrawn (mainly military police, observing the terms of the ceasefire, air defence and special forces - by the way, in the video of the columns going to Khmeimim, their affiliation with the military police is clearly visible). Next, the bases themselves will be withdrawn, although a purely symbolic presence may remain in their place.

By the way, there is information about about 500 Russian soldiers stuck in Tiyas (Tifor base) in the desert. They are too far away to leave on their own, so they need to be evacuated (apparently by air). Then all the weapons will have to be thrown onto the T-4, there.

Soviet generals, much smarter than today's, said forty years ago that Syria is a trap. A trap. As if they saw into the water, as if they saw December 2024.

But even now, when our strategists have been shown in the most obvious way that yes, it is a trap, there will still be someone who is completely unteachable and will start a mournful song about war to the victorious end.

You guys, Novosibirsk is freezing from leaky pipes, and you still can't rest from Syria.
