Belarusians join the campaign in support of the opposition leader.
There has been no news from the political prisoner Mikalai Statkevich for exactly one year – the last letter from the politician came on February 9, 2023.
Why is Lukashenka so afraid of Mikalai Statkevich? How can you support the leader of the Belarusian opposition?
Special comments from Basta! Afghan veteran Yauhen Vilsky, Deputy Chairman of the Belarusian Social Democratic Party (People's Assembly) and Statkevich's colleague, shared his opinion:
— Statkevich is Lukashenka's personal enemy. He is an example of unbroken and principled mandom in the fight against the regime. No wonder he was one of the few who was sentenced to maximum security imprisonment and was one of the first politicians arrested in 2020. Statkevich is in incommunicado conditions.
We demand a reaction from the democratic forces, since no effective sanctions aimed at protecting human rights have been imposed against the regime in Belarus. It is necessary to change the situation. We launched the "NOTRADE!" campaign.
Anyone can address our bot. This can be a video with support and words of solidarity to Statkevich or a text message that we can post on all available information resources.
We also call on Belarusians to take part in solidarity actions and remind of the ongoing lawlessness against Mikalai Statkevich and other political prisoners.
Recall that the Editor-in-Chief of Charter97.org Natallia Radzina and the People's Assembly ("Narodnaia Hramada') party initiated an international support campaign "Show Statkevich!".
