Russian Black Sea Fleet Is Retreating

The destruction of the Ivanovets and Caesar Kunikov warships affected Russia.

Successful Ukraine’s attacks in the Black Sea constantly force the Russian Black Sea Fleet to retreat. After the termination of the grain initiative, Ukraine managed to establish its dominance in the western part of the Black Sea. This was reported by British intelligence.

"Despite Russia's ability to continue striking Ukraine using vessels in the relative security of the eastern Black Sea, it is becoming increasingly clear that the defensive position chosen to reduce Ukraine's unconventional approach to naval warfare is not working as intended," the intelligence agency said.

The destruction of the Ivanovets and Caesar Kunikov warships affected Russia and led to the dismissal of the second commander of the Black Sea Fleet. At the same time, Ukraine's strategic approach has deprived Russia of the opportunity to interfere in maritime trade routes. After the extinction of the Black Sea Grain Initiative (BSGI), Ukraine strengthened its influence in the western Black Sea.

"This led to an increase in its exports through a one-way humanitarian corridor, providing greater volumes of trade than within the BSGI, bringing them to pre-war levels," the British intelligence concluded.
