Lithuanian MFA On Sending Western Troops To Ukraine: Initiative Deserves Attention

The situation requires political leadership, ambition and the courage to think outside the box.

The initiative on the possible deployment of the Western ground forces in Ukraine deserves attention.

This was reported by RBC-Ukraine citing Minister of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania Gabrielius Landsbergis on Twitter.

"Europe’s fate is being decided on the battlefields of Ukraine. Times like these require political leadership, ambition, and courage to think out of the box. The initiative behind the Paris meeting yesterday is well worth considering,” the Lithuanian Foreign Minister wrote.

Deployment of Western troops in Ukraine

On February 26, a working meeting of about 20 European leaders took place at the Elysee Palace in Paris. The conference participants discussed ways to confront Russia and possible ways to help Ukraine in confronting the aggressor in the framework of the aggravation of the situation at the front in recent weeks.

During the summit, French President Emmanuel Macron did not rule out that NATO would send troops to help Ukraine. The main problem, he said, is that there is currently no consensus on this issue.
