Defense Express: Russia Entered North Of Avdiivka, Threatens Critical Route

The epicenter of the battles for the city of Avdiivka has moved to the northern part of the city: the occupiers managed to enter the streets — now they are creating a risk to the highway, which is an important logistics route for Ukrainian troops.

This was stated by the head of Defense Express Serhiy Zgurets to “Espresso”, as he cited the data from his analysts. According to him, it’s difficult there now — the number of battles has increased along the entire perimeter around Avdiivka.

Previously, the Ukrainian Armed Forces held the invaders near the northern approaches to the city, in the Stepove area, but now the battles have broken out between Koksokhim and Avdiivka itself, he pointed out. It seems that Russia was able to take advantage of the bad weather, in which our artillery worked less, to advance further, Zgurets said (enter the streets in the north of the city).

“The enemy made a certain advance over the weekend, taking advantage of bad weather, due to which reconnaissance was difficult and artillery worked less,” he said.

Defense Express says: the Russians have about one and a half kilometers or less left to the main highway, which is considered the main route to Avdiivka.

According to the head of the information and consulting company, Russia has an advantage in strength and technology, and is putting pressure on the defense of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, although the Ukrainian army is trying to drive the invaders out of the occupied area.

“The most difficult situation is the movement to Avdiivka from the north. Then everything will depend on the availability of forces and reserves on the Ukrainian side and activity on the Russian side. Now we are experiencing one of the most difficult periods in the defense of Avdiivka, because the enemy is trying to carry out offensive actions from all directions,” Zgurets emphasized.

He recalled that the heavy defense of Avdiivka has lasted for 4 months — the Ukrainian Armed Forces still hold this bridgehead, inflicting colossal losses on the Russian army.
