Scholz Comes Up With New Justification For Refusing To Hand Over Taurus To Ukraine
OLAF SCHOLZ

He's afraid of strikes against Moscow.

Germany is not ready to transfer long-range missiles Taurus to Ukraine, as they can be used to carry out strikes against Moscow.

This was stated by German Chancellor Olaf Scholz, reports Tagesschau.

"A cruise missile with a range of 500 kilometres (we are talking about Taurus - ed.) is a weapon that, if used incorrectly, can reach a specific target somewhere in Moscow," Scholz said.

According to him, Britain and France, which have already transferred cruise missiles to Ukraine, "took care to know what and where it lands."

He reiterated that the deployment of such missiles to Ukraine would require German participation. And "this is out of the question."

The chancellor added that he was annoyed by the "criticism" over the refusal to provide Ukrainian defenders with Taurus, since Germany supplies Ukraine with far more weapons than almost all other countries.

As Scholz noted, if the US Congress does not provide new funding to help Ukraine, some countries will have to do more.
