Annalena Baerbock On Pope's Statement: I Wonder What He Was Thinking Of
ANNALENA BAERBOCK

The German Foreign Minister responded to the pontiff's statement.

German Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock said she “does not understand” the statement of Pope Francis, who previously said that Ukraine should have the “white flag courage” for peace negotiations with the Russian Federation, Tagesschau reports.

“I really wonder what he was thinking. I don’t understand,” said the German Minister.

Speaking about the aggressive war of the Russian Federation against Ukraine, Baerbock noted that some things can only be understood by seeing them with your own eyes.

“I ask myself: where is the Pope? The Pope should know about this,” she added.

The minister emphasized that the whole world must have the courage to stand on the side of the people of Ukraine and do everything possible so that Ukraine can defend itself.

If there was even the slightest chance that the Russian regime would show a willingness to negotiate, “then the whole world would be ready for this,” Baerbock noted.

“Unfortunately, we see the opposite every day,” added the German Foreign Minister.

Pope Francis, speaking about the war unleashed by the Russian Federation, said that Ukraine should have what he called the “white flag courage” and negotiate.

After Francis's words drew widespread attention, a Vatican spokesman issued a statement explaining his words, having noted in particular that “negotiations are never capitulation”.

Polish Foreign Minister Radosław Sikorski<

Meanwhile, Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba responded to the Pope that the flag of Ukraine is not white, but blue and yellow.
