It was dropped on a village in the Sumy region.
Russia first used a heavy ODAB-1500 air bomb in Ukraine.
The Armed Forces of the Russian Federation attacked the village of Velyka Pysarivka in the Sumy region with this bomb. According to Julian Repke, a BILD expert on open data analysis, after the impact of the ODAB-1500, a 1 km high cloud of smoke rose in the sky.
A fuel-air-explosive bomb aerial bomb (ODAB) is a thermobaric projectile of the USSR era, which approximately 10 meters before hitting the target releases a combustible liquid in the form of an aerosol and ignites it. This is called a fuel-air explosion.
Such a munition has a greater power of destruction than ordinary bombs. Earlier, the Russian Armed Forces used ODAB, but of a smaller weight: from 170 to 500 kg. Repke called the use of a 1.5-ton bomb in the village "a new bottom in Russia's war against Ukrainian cities."
