Latvia is going to restore the reinforced security regime on the border with Belarus.
It is planned that it will be in force from March 13 to September 12, 2024. The draft order has been prepared by the Ministry of Interior of Latvia, writes Delfi.
It is planned to establish a reinforced regime of border protection in Ludza region, Kraslava region, Augsdaugava region, Daugavpils and Kaunas parish of Rezekne region. This is connected to the increase in the number of illegal migrants.
The reinforced regime was in effect from August 2023 to February 10, 2024. In February, Latvia did not extend it, as the flow of illegal migrants decreased in winter.
