The head of Chechnya is terminally ill.
The Kremlin most likely decided on the successor of the head of Chechnya Ramzan Kadyrov: Apti Alaudinov, the commander of the Akhmat Chechen special forces. These are the results of a study prepared by Novaya Gazeta Europe.
On April 16, President Putin signed an order appointing Alaudinov to the post of deputy head of the Main Directorate for Military-Political Work of the Russian Ministry of Defense. The researchers of the publication called this appointment a springboard in the "future grandiose career of Apti Alaudinov."
The newspaper recalls that on December 18, 2023, a congress of United Russia political party was held in Moscow, at which delegates supported the candidacy of Vladimir Putin for a fifth presidential term. Alaudinov also spoke at the congress. He, in particular, talked about traditional values and religion. This speech by Apti Alaudinov was the first important signal of his rapid career takeoff, the article reads.
In January, news broke that Alaudinov was Putin's confidant in the presidential election. In March, Alaudinov successfully completed negotiations on the transfer of 3,000 fighters of the Wagner PMC to the Akhmat special unit headed by him, and in April he was appointed "political instructor" at the Ministry of Defence.
The media claims that the state of health of Ramzan Kadyrov, whose doctors diagnosed pancreatic necrosis, leaves no hope for a full recovery. It is also reported that in 2023, Kadyrov was put into a medical coma due to an overdose of a tranquilizer that he could take due to severe pain and insomnia. Sources of the publication claim that the doctors then managed to stabilize Kadyrov's condition, but the results of the examination of his brain "brought Kadyrov's relatives to a depressed state."
