New fortifications will be built.

Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk this morning, May 11, went to the Polish-Belarusian border.

Polish media report that one of the reasons for the trip is the emergence of information about migrants preparing to break through a section of the border with the support of the Belarusian side.

As the Polish radio station RMF FM reports, on Friday, May 10, this information was discussed at a board of the Polish government, which was assembled on the issue of the work of the special services of this country. After the meeting, Donald Tusk announced his intention to visit one of the sections of the Polish-Belarusian border on May 11.

The information portal Wirtualna Polska cites statements by Donald Tusk, which he made on May 11, while visiting the Polish-Belarusian border. He reported preparations to “strengthen the border, both in connection with the pressure organized by the Lukashenka regime, and in connection with the growing threat from the war in Ukraine and the uncertain geopolitical situation.”

“We started negotiations on protecting the border — not only from migration — but also on modern fortifications. They will be built along the entire border in the east of the country. We will inform the public about them. This is also the external border of the EU, so I have no doubt that the whole of Europe will have to invest in its security, that is, in the eastern border of Poland,” said the Polish Prime Minister.

“This border is a completely unique place because of the migration pressure. We are dealing with a progressive hybrid war,” said Donald Tusk about the border with Belarus. “I want there to be no doubt: a state with increasingly aggressive intentions towards Poland — and this is Belarus — is one of the organizers of what is happening on the border. This implies the need for brilliant joint work of services to ensure the security of the state.

“We know that the situation is complex — with the exploitation of migrants or illegal migration, and increasingly with human trafficking, which have nothing to do with migration or asylum. However, this should not obscure the most important thing: the people who guard the border here — the safety of all Poles depends on them,” the head of government added.
