NYT: AFU Switch To New Strategy

NYT: AFU Switch To New Strategy

The Russian Federation will not be able to capture Kharkiv without hundreds of thousands of soldiers in this direction.

The advance of the Russian Armed Forces in Kharkiv region will directly depend on how many soldiers both sides can bring in.

While Russia has reserves, Ukraine does not. They will have to redeploy the units that are now involved in other parts of the front.

Military experts and analysts agree that the Russian Federation will not have enough forces to capture Kharkiv.

However, enemy troops can approach the city at the distance of an artillery shot, The New York Times reports.

Now the main task of the AFU is to retreat gradually to earlier fortified positions. Experts write that such a strategy is not ideal, as Ukrainian defenders are implementing it in practice with mistakes.

Ideally, this tactic consists of retreating in small steps, causing maximum damage to the advancing side.

The advancing side must constantly break forward with fighting, capturing position after position.

The AFU has switched to this strategy because there is a shortage of ammunition and manpower. Since 2022, the tactics of the Russian army have also changed.

Initially they were thinking that they would easily reach Kharkiv and would not meet proper resistance. Already now the occupiers are actively using artillery first to destroy strongholds.

After that, attacking aircrafts come into the battle in small groups and from different directions.

Experts say that the extent to which the Russian Armed Forces will be able to advance in Ukraine depends entirely on how many fighters both sides of the conflict can field.

Analysts from the Swedish Defence Research Agency of Norberg stressed that the war is already interactive.

However, it will be difficult for the Russian Federation to capture Kharkiv, as several hundred thousand soldiers are needed to achieve this goal.
