Nikki Haley Unexpectedly Says She Will Support Trump In Election

She had harshly criticised the politician previously.

Former South Carolina governor Nikki Haley said she would support Donald Trump in the US presidential election in 2024, CNN writes.

"Trump would do the smart thing by appealing to the millions of people who voted for me and continue to support me, rather than assuming that they will just vote for him. And I sincerely hope he will do that."

Haley said Trump "hasn't been perfect" on issues important to her, including foreign policy, immigration and the economy, but President Joe Biden "has been a disaster."

"That's why I will be voting for Trump," Haley said.

She also addressed voters and thanked them for supporting her candidacy even after quitting the race.

Earlier, during the primaries, Haley sharply commented on Donald Trump's prospects of getting the Republican Party's presidential nomination, calling such a scenario "suicide" for the US.
