Putin Announces Inclusion Of Belarus In SCO

Since July.

Belarus will become the tenth member country of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) at the summit in Astana, which will be held in July, Russian Ruler Vladimir Putin said during a press conference following the Russian-Belarusian negotiations.

“We proceed from the fact that already in July at the organization’s summit in Astana it will be announced that all the necessary procedures have been completed and Belarus will become the 10th country member of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization,” Putin noted.

The SCO was founded in 2001 by six countries — Kazakhstan, China, Russia, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan. Later, Iran, India and Pakistan joined the union.

The last SCO summit was held in July 2023 in India. The parties discussed the situation in Afghanistan, the problem of “color revolutions” and unilateral sanctions.
