Ukraine, Belgium Sign Agreement On Security Guarantees

The document specifies a certain number of F-16 planes.

On Tuesday, May 28, the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky and the Prime Minister of Belgium Alexander De Croo signed a bilateral agreement on cooperation in the field of security and long-term support.

This is stated in the message of the Office of the President of Ukraine.

The office noted that Belgium will allocate to Ukraine for military assistance at least 977 million euros this year. Such a commitment, as well as the readiness to support Ukraine during the ten-year term of the agreement are enshrined in this document.

For the first time, such a security agreement specifies a specific number of military planes that will be provided to Ukraine - 30 F-16s until 2028. At that, the first fighter jets are to be delivered already this year.

Belgium guarantees that it will provide timely security assistance, modern military equipment and weaponry tailored to Ukraine's needs in the areas of air force and air defence, maritime security, demining and within the coalition on ammunition and will facilitate the conduct of training exercises.
