BILD: Russian Strategy Has Failed

Two Russian offensives have fizzled out.

On Saturday, explosions thundered in the area of the village of Dubovoye, south of Belgorod. As it turned out, Ukrainian HIMARS missiles hit Russian Pantsir-S1 air defense systems. They were covering the regional center from the south and were located 37 kilometers from the state border. The range of HIMARS is 85 kilometers, they could have been located not on the border itself, but 30-40 kilometers to the south.

As BILD open data analysis expert Julian Roepke notes, the destruction of the Pantsirs near Belgorod indicates the failure of the Russian strategy of recent weeks. When the Russian Armed Forces launched an offensive in the Kharkiv region in May, one of the goals was to create “buffer zones” so that the Ukrainian Armed Forces could not shell Belgorod from the border area. Russia began to advance in two directions: to Lyptsy and to Vovchansk.

Both offensives fizzled out, and a corridor formed between them, which is still controlled by Ukraine. It was from there that HIMARS struck the Pantsirs near Belgorod.
